The BBC at Avebury Manor

The Tudor Parlour

The Tudor Parlour at Avebury Manor, is part of an ambitious project undertaken by the BBC over six months during 2011. The idea was to create nine themed rooms which would reflect periods in Avebury Manor’s history.

This drawing is a section of the Tudor Parlour which aims to reflect a time when William Dunch, who purchased the Manor in 1551 was in residence. The table is set for a high status meal. The Dunchs' were an extremely wealth family, noticeable from the tapestries which adorn the walls, handwoven rush matting, solid oak furniture and polished pewter.
